About Heather's method

Treating the Fascia

Calming the Nervous System

Calming the Nervous System

Your fascia is tissue that covers all your muscles, joints, and organs.  It is also the layer of tissue that your nerve endings live in.  Using several tools, I help to release the fascial system allowing the lymph system that flushes toxins to clear.  This helps prepare your body for the healing to come.

Calming the Nervous System

Through a series of trigger points and passive movement, I release muscles that are congesting the joints.  The body can then move through its natural range without compressing the nerves.  These movements also help to reinforce the neuromuscular connection, breaking the bad feedback loop that resulted in the pain.

Making a Plan

Making a Plan

I help you identify which muscles you need to stretch and which muscles you need to strengthen so we can create a routine that fits your needs and abilities. With this knowledge, and regular massage, you can take back your life from the cycle of pain.

Treatments

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue

Usually using firm, slow pressure this technique reaches the deeper layers of the muscle and connective tissue.  Deep Tissue also includes stripping and friction moves to break down adhesions (knots) in the muscle tissue that tend to gather in the shoulders, neck, and back.

Swedish Massage

Swedish

Light, relaxing massage utilizing slow movements.  Good for relaxation and stress relief.

Hot Stone Massage

Hot Stone

Heat is applied using stones and oils causing your tension to melt away.  This is a VERY relaxing modality and is best for people who need to de-stress.  The combination of warmth and specially picked essential oils taps into your calm center and will leave you needing a nap.

Medical Trigger Point Massage

Medical Trigger Point

Adapted from Eastern Medicine practices to be applied in a Western clinical setting.  Consists of applying pressure to points known as "trigger points"  to cause the muscle zone to relax.  Medical Trigger Point is also known as Myofascial Release Massage.

Shiatsu Massage

Shiatsu/ Ashiatsu

Based in Eastern medicine, Shiatsu uses specific pressure along the energy channels to cause changes in different systems and an overall improvement in your health.  Ashiatsu is a form of Shiatsu where the practitioner uses their feet rather than their hands.  Recommended if you have reached a plateau in your health or workout routine and need that extra something to push you through it.

Table Thai Massage

Table Thai

Utilizing the clients' breath, this modality consists of assisted movements and vibrations to assess and treat connective tissue conditions. Somewhat like an assisted yoga session. Very effective on restrictions in movement in any part of your body. Especially good for auto and athletic injuries.

Craniosacral Massage

Craniosacral

A very gentle therapy that has a great influence on the membranes and fluid that surround, protect and nourish the brain and spinal cord.  Craniosacral Therapy has been proven effective in relieving symptoms associated with Migraines, ADD/ADHD, chronic neck and back pain, Fibromyalgia, TMJ, Autism, and various other learning disabilities, Scoliosis, and PTSD.

Prenatal (Pregnancy) Massage

Prenatal

Safe and comfortable for mothers-to-be throughout their pregnancy.  Special positioning and techniques allow a comfortable and relaxing massage while still getting into those deeper aches and pains.
